Friends of the Corvallis-Benton County Public Library will be spending the entire week of October 19-25, 2014, celebrating its Friends of the Library group as part of the ninth annual celebration of National Friends of Libraries Week. The Friends of the Corvallis-Benton County Public Library was established in 1961 and raised over $92,000 to benefit the library system last year alone. Currently over 1700 community members contribute annually to the Friends and nearly 400 of these contributors actively volunteer their time to assist the group with fundraising efforts that include, but are not limited to, used book sales in December, February and September, year round online book sales, and an ongoing $.50 room at the library.
“The library has always played such an important role in my life and in my family’s life,” said Friends co-president Stefani McRae-Dickey. “I enjoy being able to give something back – and being an active member of this group is fun!” Other members of the Executive Board are Co-President David Low, Secretary Lynda Hohenboken, Co-Treasurers Anna Ellendman and Lynn Grube, Membership Chair Cathe Walker, Random Review Co-Chairs Debra Goldberg and Connie Georgiou, Volunteer Coordinator Chair Dolly Chao, Sorting and Book Room Committee Chair Corrine Gobeli, Monroe Library Liaison Judith Jeremiah, Public Relations/Outreach Chair Katherine Inman, Warehouse Book Storage Chair Jim Michalek, Big Book Sale Co-Chairs David Grube and Jill Rubart, Library Board and Foundation Liaison Jacque Schreck, Benton Books Chair Ann Brodie, and Sustainability Coalition Liaison Dean Sartain.
Celebration activities include a Membership Table and Used Book Sale in the lobby at selected times throughout the week. Please contact the library at 541-766-6928 or email firstname.lastname@example.org to learn more about the week’s activities and to find out how to become a member of the Friends.

Donating Books to the Friends
We welcome and depend on your book contributions. Because of your generosity the Friends are able to raise money for library programs and services that otherwise would not be funded.
We accept books, DVDs, CDs and Videos, but – sorry – no magazines. Donated items should be in good condition and salable. They should be clean, free of mold or mildew or unpleasant odors.
Donations can be left at the Main Library in the foyer at the entrance from the underground parking lot. A sign indicates the place to leave them. They also may be placed in the returned books receptacle of any branch library.
Contribution forms for your taxes can be found in an envelope above the drop site or from the Library Administration office. The Friends are an IRS 501(c) 3 organization and an Oregon Cultural Trust qualifying non-profit.
Thank you for your donations!
